Do I need to re-enforce my cabinets when installing natural stone countertops?

No, this is not typically necessary. However, when templating, Marble Essence employees will inspect your cabinets to see if any adjustments, such as leveling, will need to be made.

How long until my countertop project is finished and installed in my home?

Typically, once you are on our schedule, it will take approximately 1-2 weeks for installation from the date of templating. Usually an average kitchen is installed in one day.

What is the difference between granite and marble?

Granite is a much more durable substance than marble. Actually, granite is one of the hardest surfaces on earth next to a diamond. Since it has this characteristic, granite is ideal for use in "high-traffic" areas of the home or business. Granite countertops and floors are more scratch resistant than marble; thus, it is more appropriate to put marble in areas that are less demanding.

What is the difference between granite and other man-made solid surfaces?

Granite is a natural stone created over millions of years from minerals and substances from the earth. Corian, and similar products, are instead man-made products that try to simulate granite. Unfortunately, these products will never duplicate the beauty possessed by any of the natural stones. Quite often it is believed that natural stone costs a lot more than man-made materials, however modern techniques in tooling and technology have cut the price dramatically. Now, more than ever, natural stones are affordable and priced competitively with man-made products.

Do I need a professional to seal my natural stone?

No, that is not necessary. You can simply apply the liquid silicon impregnator with a sponge or brush, wait 20 minutes, and then wipe off with a paper towel.

What do I use to clean my countertops?

A mild dish soap will be sufficient. You need not purchase any special cleaning agents, and we recommend that you not use harsh detergents on your stone as they tend to leave a film.

Do I need to buy a sink? If so, what kind of sink?

For a remodel, you may use your existing sink. If, however, you choose to buy a new sink or your project is a new construction, you can purchase any sink from a local hardware store. Marble Essence can also provide a variety of stainless steel sinks at an additional cost.

Will my natural stone countertops stain?

Once your stone leaves our store, it will be sealed with a silicon impregnator, a substance that will make the stone non-porous and more very difficult to stain. Then, if you seal your tops annually -- an easy project that will take 20 minutes and cost approximately $20.00 -- they will remain as resistant to stains as they were when they left Marble Essence.

How much does natural stone cost per square foot or linear foot in both slab material or countertops?

Each individual job is based on time and material and the complexity of the project. In all projects, however, we find ourselves competitively priced among our competitors and comparable to many man made products.
